In the Civil War, Lt. Dunbar befriends a Sioux tribe while stationed on the western frontier. He leaves his former life to become a part of the tribe and falls for a white adopted daughter of the tribe's medicine man, but as a threat from his own people looms, Dunbar must choose to leave or stand and fight with his new family.
