In 1893, just as she was on the cusp of a scientific breakthrough, Marie Skłodowska met fellow scientist Pierre Curie. After quickly falling in love, the two soon wedded and became close scientific collaborators. In 1903, they were presented with a Nobel Prize in Physics for their work on radiation. A tragedy followed in 1906, and by 1911, Marie found herself embroiled in a scandal and nearing yet another remarkable discovery.
